The Veterinary Services Directorate (VSD) has asked the public to be on the lookout and report the sale of donkey meat of hyde to the nearest offices of the VSD of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
A statement from the VSD of Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said it had not been issuing permits for the slaughter and sale of donkey meat and skin.
It said it had come to the notice of its offices that there is was an unauthorized slaughter of donkeys being carried out at the Kumasi Abattoir.
The statement said: “VSD wishes to state that the slaughter houses in the country are not approved for the slaughter of donkeys and the sale of the meat to the public.”
