The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has congratulated President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for winning the 2016 presidential elections.
It also congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo’s party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for winning majority of seats in parliament in the parliamentary elections.
In a statement issued to commend Ghanaians for yet another successful elections, CCG expressed especial gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) “for the way and manner in which they accepted the outcome of the elections”.
“President Mahama has over the years contributed significantly to national development and made a positive impact on our democratic dispensation as Head of State and a legislator.
“The Christian Council of Ghana is most grateful to Your Excellency,” the statement signed by Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong said.
The Council acknowledged the sensitization that engulfed the pre-election period especially with the media and civil society organizations (CSOs) discussing manifestos and promises of the political parties. “Ghanaians are aware of the issues raised.
“We therefore want to admonish the President-elect and his government to sustain the hope and deliver on those promises.”
The Council also asked CSOs and the media to sustain the discourse in order to demand accountability from those appointed to public office.
“The CCG wishes to affirm to Ghanaians that it will continue with its public education on good governance, respect for human rights and the call for Christians to bring to bear the Christian values to public life.”

It is becoming irritating to be a christian in ghana because of these so called pastors and reverends who have assembled themselves and wants us to believe that they are fighting for the interest of christians and ghana.l tell you these people are curse on Ghanaians and GOD knows it. Nana Addo has officially called on the chiet Imam but he did not make any such statement, why won't these cursed one's for common sense not wait for nana to call on them and even ask GOD to permit him fulfill that.ldid not even here them mention God's name anywhere but nana addo keep on remembering you that the battle is still the Lords. Shame on you, evils.if you are not careful GOD will kill you all before your time.......stomach pastors.
we have to be on Nana addo to do the things he promised and more. That is the only way the vullltures in NDC can never come back and take us backwards again. We should all be 'hard' on Nana to do the things we want. It is better for him to fail whiles doing his best, than to fail without doing his best - like JM did.
The man is not yet sworn in but look at all these demands. Why? Is Christian Council now doing the bidding of NDC? Could prof Martey's refused bribe did sink some where? Interesting!!
Hmmmm!!! We are all watching and keeping our fingers crossed. We are also watching his vice Bawumia who claimed has answers to all Ghana's economic problems.
How is Nana going to provide nearly 180 factories across all the districts in Ghana and also provide irrigation dams in nearly 5000 villages across the 3 northern regions? how will he cut down taxes and at the same time make education free, free teacher and nurses trainee allowances. These are just a few of his promises. Hmm, we wait to see, with these polices Ghana's economy will already be in gutters.
