The Ministry of Finance has approved an increase in the allowances of National Service personnel from GH¢350 to GH¢559.04.
A letter signed by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr Patrick Nomo on behalf of the Minister and dated December 19, 2016 said, “Approval is hereby given for the National Service personnel allowance to be adjusted as follows: Current rate - GH¢350 Approved rate - GH¢559.04.”
The approved rate translates to 40 per cent of the graduate entry level on the 2017 Single Spine Salary Structure.
The adjustment is expected to take effect from January 1, 2017.

Mahama is trying to destroy the little respect he has left for himself. These last minute contract signing, appointments, promotions and salary increases is preposterous
The percentage of increment is 59.72% rather than 40% as stated in the media. They should do proper calculations.
GHC549 is 40% of the entry level pay of graduates on the single salary structure
40% of 350= 140 Therefore 350 + 40% 0f 350 =350 +140 = 490 what is happening??? My dear Ghana!
40% of GHC350 will not mount to GHC549.
