Mr Richard A. Y Anamoo has been relieved of his post as the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
A directive from the presidency, according to a source, indicated that Mr Anamoo ceases to be the boss of the GPHA.
It is, however, unclear whether the move was fuelled by the litany of accusations levelled against him by the Junior Staff Union of GPHA.
Aggrieved workers at the Tema and the Takoradi ports asked for his removal from office citing gross abuse of power and financial malfeasance.
In addition, the workers have also clamoured for a thorough investigation to save the public purse from entering into the pockets of some individuals.
"We are asking government to set up a committee to investigate and probe into all the port expansion projects at Tema and Takoradi, and also find the owners behind the companies executing the local content aspects of the expansion projects," the Union demanded.
Addressing a news conference in Tema, the Secretary to the Junior Staff Union, Keku Amorquasi Amuzuah, accused the Director General of misappropriation of funds and sole sourcing of most of the projects that the GPHA has embarked on.
According to him, since Mr Anamoo assumed office as the Director General, there had been deep-seated corruption, nepotism, and cronyism under his watch, thus affecting a healthy environment under which they worked.
He said: "In 2012, Mr Anamoo transferred his residence to his son, who has also used the place as a recording studio and a pub at the expense of the state. On top of that, he has deployed two security guards to his son at the residence."
Mr Amuzuah further alleged that Mr Anamoo had duped the state and GPHA of millions of Ghana cedis under the guise of the ports expansion projects, automation of the entire port, and purchase of pieces of equipment and crafts.

ALMOST EVERYBODY IN THE PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT IS A ***barred word*** AND MUST BE INVESTIGATED. MEAN WHILE THERE ARE A LOT OF STEALING COBWEBS IN PEOPLE CORNERS WHICH IS NOT TALKED ABOUT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT POLITICIANS.
I trust we r not in a revolution. Why not investigate allegations before acting. The npp is suppuse to follow democratic principles but will always act capriciously in practice... Man oh man
The govt should ensure that no commission of enquiry is set up, otherwise after the commission's findings it can't be used to prosecute Anamoo. Make sure the right steps are used so he can be prosecuted for all the steaealing, giving USD60million to NDC for campaigning in the 2016 election, giving Fii Kwetey GHS2million for his campaign, GHD9million for PR during John Mahama's visit, Loo0ting by Ofosu Ampofo, etc.
