Madam Bless Neriah, Volta and Eastern Regional Chairperson of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has described the tax cut in this year’s budget as a “dream come true.”

“This is a dream come true. We can’t express our joy and I think we have to march on the roads with happiness,” she said.

Madam Neriah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that, industry players had suffered for long with the imposition of “massive taxes” especially on small and medium scale enterprises and commended government for its concern for the sector.

She said government’s plan to revamp some factories was particularly heart warming and appealed to government to consider tax holidays for starters.

Madam Neriah said taxes by the Ghana Standards Authority and the Food and Drugs Authority were stifling business growth and urged government to consider a review of such taxes.

She also appealed to government to stop the influx of some inferior goods onto the local market.
The government in its maiden budget announced some major tax cuts and reliefs in the 2017 budget for financial services, imported medicines, domestic airline tickets, real estate sales, among others.
