The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners may not carry out their ‘All Die Be Die’ demonstration as threatened.

This is because the Association is consulting its executives to review the decision, following a meeting with the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in Kumasi on Friday, May 19.

The Association had given government a three-day ultimatum to lift the ban on small-scale mining, failure of which they threatened to stage a massive demonstration.

But at the meeting held at the Georgia Hotel, the legal small-scale miners requested government to reduce the period of the moratorium on mining in the country.

Prior to the meeting, they brandished papers to express their displeasure of happenings in the sector in the past few months.

The writings on the papers seem to be directed at the minister, John-Peter Amewu. But after an hour of jaw-jawing, both parties came to some kind of agreement.

The Minister assured them of plans to convey their message to cabinet for further action. They, in return, gave their word to reconsider their decision to demonstrate.
