President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned the terror attack on Manchester Arena in the UK that has claimed 22 lives and injured 59 others including children.
A lone male suicide attacker set off a homemade bomb in the foyer at 22:33 BST on Monday at the end of a concert by US singer Ariana Grande, the BBC reported. The explosion happened shortly after Ariana Grande left the stage. Flags are flying at half mast outside Number 10 and political parties have suspended general election campaigning.
World leaders, including Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo, have condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the UK. He tweeted Tuesday morning: ” Shocked and saddened by yesterday’s terror attack in Manchester, resulting in the deaths of 22 people and injuries to 59.
“I condemn these despicable and cowardly acts, and extend my deepest condolences to the affected families,” President Akufo-Addo added.
