The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has taken over the entire town of Diaso in Denkyira Obuasi following the gruesome lynching of army Captain Maxwell Mahama by the townsfolk.
Captain Mahama was lynched on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a group of residents from whom he asked for directions during a Monday dawn jogging session spotted a pistol on him.
The soldiers are combing the town for Captain Mahama’s killers.

I think the soldiers must learn to behave. I sympathise with the family of the dead soldier and condemn the killing but I equally detest the behavious of the soldiers. Over the year these men in uniforms that we contribute to buy and the guns they use been brutalising civilians over very little misunderstanding between them and gone free. while we mourn with the family we must as country start to ask quetions over the whole army in that part of the country and other locations. We must also ask why people have decided to take the law into their hands and met out their own version of Justice. If we keep sweeping under carpets these questions and hide behind the killing and fan emotions we will be missing vital and important opportunity to heal our nation. We must equally demand Justice from miltary brutalities just as we are doing now. You see equity is rule of the game. I feel disgusted when I hear the military justifying the need to be allowed to go into the community and beat up the people and even kill them. They can do that but they should remember that the childrn of the people who have been denie the opportunity to study properly for the BECE would one day also seek revenge. Whatever goes round comes back to us. I rest my case
it is hard to accept the lynching of this gentle officer. in the same lense, it is unacceptable to terrorise and torture innocent ppl in the village for the death of the officer. Please let all anger and compassion come down to allow better investigations to bring the culprits to order. Mind you, there are innocent people who have been arrested and are being maltreated for crime they do not know of.
Nana addo wake up ooo you are lazying too much...your security capos are failing you.what is happening in this country...lawlessness everywhere....dont let our vote be in vain...nana addo wake up.I hate this IGP,he is not on top of issues
When we watch such lynching act in some of our neighbouring countries, we normally feel this can't happen in Ghana. Justice must be ensured to prevent future occurrence such ungodly act. RIP Mahama
Can't stop shedding tears......that whole community and its environs would have ceased to exist during my time at '64. This is sad and I expect officers and men of Pink 5 to ROAR like the lions that they are. This dastardly ACT must not slide. Savages are hiding behind the veil of democracy and lack of political will to fight crime to advance their interest and gradually holding this country to ransom. As for the MP and DCE of the area, they must watch it and not make us angry. If they have nothing to tell us, they should just ***barred word*** and refrain from displaying their ignorance and substandard output.
Who say man no dey
it is a pity I thought Ghana is more civilized than this.Justice now the soldiers are not even doing what I want. They should start from the loud talking so called minister and bring the whole town to flames.
...a goose in certainly not a gander.
AWWWWWWWWWWW, SO WHEN DID GHANA TURN INTO THIS? IGNORANCE IS DANGEROUS. GHANAIANS ARE TRYING TO COPY NIGERIANS WHICH IS VERY BAD. A LOT OF INNOCENT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED THROUGH THESE KIND OF LAWLESSNESS. THEY SHOULD DEAL WITH THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. GOD HAVE MERCY ON US.
All the young men and women in that township must be tourtured very seriously for some to die after the beatings to serve as a deterant to everybody in Ghana who think that they can do anything and more on free. tThe soldiers are not doing what we the citizens want to be done to these criminals in town there. SO NO ONE WAS REASONABLE IN THE VILLAGE THERE TO TELL THE YOUTH TO HAND HIM OVER TO THE POLICE? THEY ALL STOOD AND WATCH AND SO MUST EVERYBODY THERE BE TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL. SO EVERYBODY IN THE AREA THERE WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURED IS A CRIMINAL. THAT WOMAN WHO HAD THE COURAGE TO SET FIRE ON HIM MUST BE MALHANDLED TO DIE IN THE PROCESS FOR US TO LEARN LESSONS IN THIS COUNTRY.
