Mr Martin Obeng, the Sunyani West District Chief Executive, has called on candidates writing this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to be studious and prepare well for the coming exams.
The BECE exams is expected to begin on Monday June 5.
He said there is no way candidates who fail the examination would enjoy the free Senior High School programme set to begin in September.
Mr Obeng told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Nsoatre that government's free SHS programme would benefit only qualified students.
He reminded the candidates that they were going to be examined on what they had learnt in school and nothing strange, hence the need to avoid panic and avoid all forms of malpractices.
Mr Obeng said it is an offense to send any foreign material to the examination hall adding that their teachers and parents had done their part and it was now their turn to justify the investment made in them.
