Thirty-four suspects including two lactating mothers accused of murdering Captain Maxwell Mahama have been remanded by an Accra Central Magistrate court Monday. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder and will reappear in court on June 21, 2017.
The remanded suspects include six women. The state prosecutor DSP George Amega pleaded with the court presided over by Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah for more time since investigation is still ongoing.
According to the police, so far 42 persons have been arrested with the youngest suspect being a 12-year-old while the oldest is a 57–year-old man. Thirty five of them have been arraigned before court and the Police are closely monitoring investigations from the Police headquarters.
The police have pledged to arrest all suspects connected to the killing of the Military Officer.
Captain Mahama was lynched by residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central region on Monday May 29, and he will be laid to rest this Friday, June 9, 2017.
