Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, the Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, has pledged adequate security protection during this year’s “Homowo” - the annual traditional festival of the Gas.
He called for everybody to be bold to report any trouble maker, out there to mar the beauty, sanctity and significance of the festival, to the law enforcement agencies.
He was answering a question on the floor of Parliament about steps taken by the National House of Chiefs to resolve the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Ga Mashie to ensure an incident-free “Homowo”.
Mr. Richard Quashigah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta had asked the question on behalf of Mr Edwin Nii Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, MP for Odododiodoo.
The Minister stated that “presently, there is no matter before the National House of Chiefs for adjudication”, in respect of the Ga chieftaincy dispute or any issue affecting the celebration of the Ga Homowo festival.
He said Ga Mashie fell under two traditional areas - the Ga Traditional Council and the Ngeshie Alata Traditional Council, and the two had roles to play in the celebration of the festival.
