Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has paid glowing tribute to the past ancestral kings of Asanteman, at a solemn traditional ceremony held at the Breman Royal Mausoleum, in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The symbolic occasion, held as a memorial to honour the past legendary monarchs, was also an occasion for the Asantehene, who is the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, to commune spiritually with his ancestral predecessors and also seek their spiritual support, for the protection of the people.

The Asantehene, his entourage and retinue of chiefs, all clad in black, moved in a solemn procession to the royal Mausoleum for the event, dubbed 'Breman Som Kesee”, where he performed some customary rites behind closed doors, amidst the firing of musketry and traditional songs.

It formed part of activities marking the 20th-anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of Otumfuo Osei Tutu.

Baffour Kogyawoasu Asabre Ababio, the Nsumankwahene (Spiritual Head of the Asantehene), told the media that, the event was an integral component of rites expected to be performed by the Asantehene, as he celebrates the anniversary.
The event, he noted, had been held every five years since Otumfuo Osei Tutu ascended the Golden Stool.

After the ceremony, the King proceeded to Mbrom (African Bungalow), a Kumasi suburb, where he also performed some traditional rites.

Carried in a palanquin, Otumfuo Osei Tutu and the procession moved through some principal streets in the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi before entering the Manhyia Palace.
The security personnel on duty had a hectic time controlling the enthusiastic crowd, who struggled to catch a glimpse of the celebrant.
