Former Gender Minister Nana Oye Lithur has criticised President Akufo-Addo over his controversial comments about Ghanaian women in Canada.
The President in his contribution at the Women Deliver Conference in Canada, said he is yet to see dynamism in Ghanaian women.
“We are not seeing enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who are seeking. I am talking about dynamism where it matters…electing people to Parliament, controlling political parties because they are the instruments by which our societies make decisions.
“We are talking about decisions, not wishes and hopes, we are talking about decisions that are going to make the difference,” the President said.
The comments have been heavily criticised by some Ghanaian women despite the open challenge that was given Mr. Akufo-Addo at the conference by Dr Alaa Murabit, the UN’s High Commissioner on Health Employment and Economic Growth, who appeared uncomfortable by the president’s stands.
Speaking to Ghone television, Oye Lithur said the President’s comment made her cry as a Ghanaian women.
“President Akufo-Addo made me cry, I cried when I watched the video. To have a human rights lawyer speak and address gender issues in the way he addressed, very regrettable. He couldn’t even get his data right. Even the representation of women in his cabinet, he couldn’t get that right”.

Pls dont take the old man too serious, im sure he was referring just to his wife.
THE SAME WOMAN WHO SIGNED AND ADVOCATED FOR RADIO PROPAGANDIST WHO THREATENED TO RAPE AND KILL OUR FIRST FEMALE CHIEF JUSTICE? SAME WOMAN AS GENDER ACTIVIST WHO REMOVED HER SHOES AND HANDBAGS FOR HER BODYGUARD POLICE MAN TO CARRY BECAUSE SHE WAS A GENDER MINISTER? YOU SO CALLED CROCODILE TEARS IS UNCONVINCING. ***barred word*** IN WOLVES SKIN WE HAVE SPOTTED YOU LONG TIME. SHAME ON YOUR HYPOCRISY.
In fact you should have died. Look at this selfish being claiming to be women activist. Her activism is only intended for her pocket. The NDC sensationalism is too much.
As a Minister, you could not even work with your deputy who was also a woman. Yet you expect others to help women. $tuup!d!
This is a woman who signed a petition for the release of thugs who were imprisoned for insulting a woman chief justice. The first time Ghana had a woman as chief justice, thugs sat on radio and threatened to rape her. You did not cry about that. You rather put pressure on the president to release those thugs from jail. Now you sit there talking $h!!!t. F00l!$h woman
You are being un1ntelligent. What he said was the utmost fact. Why do we want to politicize everything? He said women should show more dynamism and activism where it matters bcos they are the instruments society make decisions. He said hope and wishes are not enough. Didn't you lobby for the Gender Ministry position or were you sitting in your bedroom and it was given to you on a silver plate? Propaganda doesn't work anymore.
But it is true that most women gender activists in Ghana do no show enough dynamism in their approach to issues. You just want to talk and be pampered, especially the so-called educated ones. Quite unfortunately, these same educated women maltreat their house helps who happen to be mostly women and girls for that matter. This Oye woman is a living example of someone who is alleged to have maltreated so many house helps in her own house. Please, don't pretend and stop your 'crocodile' tears. Nobody takes you serious.
Next time you even kill yourself we don't care one bit.
Look at the one talking. Talk is cheap indeed. This NDC woman is known for abusing and maltreating her fellow women. We have not forgotten how she maltreated and abused people she worked with at the Gender Ministry.
Ehhh is it not this same woman who's husband came out to accuse of her maltreating their female househelps. Ghana mom paa dierrr. And we grant her audience. Tweakai.
