The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council has asked all Ghanaian women, particularly the Ashanti, Fante and Ewe women not to be bothered by any reckless statement from anyone, including the clergy, politicians or traditional rulers.
The council in a statement on August 8, this year, said it has “noted with grave concern certain ethnocentric comments made by some Pastors in the recent past specifically against Ashanti, Fante and Ewe women.”
That, the council said, it “acknowledges the great support these women have offered and continue to offer to their husbands and families to attain greater heights in their endeavours”, noting that “we are one nation and one people with one destiny, and that there should be no place for tribal utterances that can fuel division among us.”
Background
The Head Pastor of Glorious Wave International Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, in a recent viral video claimed that women from the Ashanti tribe are selfish and troublesome, Fanti women are foolish and Ewe women are too docile in marriage.
Prophet Badu Kobi’s claims have received a lot of condemnation from a section of the public, with many demanding an apology and retraction of his claims against Ashanti, Fante and Ewe women.

STATEMENT BY GHANA PENTECOSTAL AND CHARISMATIC COUNCIL (GPCC) IN COMMENDATION OF WOMEN
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council has noted with grave concern certain ethnocentric comments made by some Pastors in the recent past specifically against Ashanti, Fante and Ewe women.
The Council wishes to encourage all women, especially, those of the aforementioned tribes not to be deterred by such unguarded statements from whatever source.
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council commends all women, for the valuable and commendable roles they play in the Church in Ghana as well as their immense contributions to national development.
The Council acknowledges the great support these women have offered and continue to offer to their husbands and families to attain greater heights in their endeavours and ask that they should not be bothered by any reckless statement from anyone be it a clergy, a politician or a traditional leader.
May we remind all Ghanaians that, we are one nation and one people with one destiny, and that there should be no place for tribal utterances that can fuel division among us.
Again, any such unsavory statement should not be worth our discussion or time because the Ghanaian woman remains a force to reckon with in the society and deserves our commendation.

THE RECENT UTTERANCES OF BADU KOBI, ESPECIALLY HIS ATTACK ON ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER, SHOULD CAUSE HIM TO BE ARRESTED. HIS PUBLIC UTTERANCES ARE DANGEROUS TO CAUSE TRIBAL HATRED IN GHANA. IT IS DISSERVICE TO THE NATION IF THE BNI FAIL TO INVITE HIM IMMEDIATELY. AS WE APPROACH A POLITICAL ELECTION IN 2020, IT IS THE AGENDA OF SOME POLITICIANS WITH NO VISION AND RIGHT POLICIES TO EXPLOIT THE WEAK MINDED AND DISHONEST GHANAIANS, ESPECIALLY THE SELF CENTERED AND SELF ACCLAIMED PUBLIC PREACHERS TO SOW TRIBAL HOSTILITIES IN ORDER TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM ECONOMIC AND ESSENTIAL SOCIAL CONCERNS. ACTIONS IN PURSUIT OF SUCH AGENDA SHOULD BE STOPPED PROMPTLY AND DRASTICALLY BY THE NATIONAL SECURITY OPERATIVES AND AGENCIES BEFORE THEY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PEACE AND THE UNITY OF THE COUNTRY. FAILURE TO STOP THE THE DANGER BY SUCH SELF ACCLAIMED PASTORS MAY CAUSE HARM TO THE NATION, AS WELL AS THE PERPETRATORS THEMSELVE. WE STILL REMEMBER OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE CASE OF OWUSU BEMPAH AND THE MUSLIM YOUTH, WHEN HE TALKED ILL OF THE CHIEF IMAM. THE ASANTES, THE FANTES, OR EWES HAVE NOT REACTED TO BADU KOBI THE WAY AS THE MUSLIM YOUTH DID TO OWUSU BEMPAH BUT WE CANNOT TAKE THAT FOR GRANTED AND DO NOTHING. THE BNI OR WHOEVER SHOULD NOT SLEEP ON BADU KOBI MADDDNESSS AND DISTURB THE PUBLIC PEACE. FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS THE SOCIAL MEDIA HAS TRENDED ON HIGHLY INFURIATED LANGUAGE AND INSULTS THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE OVER THE DANGEROUS SPEECH OF BADU KOBI. BNI AND CID ARE PAID TO WORK AND NOT PAID TO SLEEP. THEY NEED TO WAKE UP. WE EXPECT THEM TO BE PROACTIVE AND NOT TO BE PASSIVE AND DAY DREAMING. NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW, LET ALONE DERANGED CHARACTERS OF POTENTIAL PUBLIC CHAOS. I WISH THE BNI AND CID HAVE SMART OFFICERS TO FIND THE LAWS THAT HAVE BEEN BREACHED BY BADU KOBI TO ARREST HIM. HIS ARREST WILL SEND A STRONG SIGNAL TO ALL USELESSSS TALKS AND ACTIONS OF THE FAAKE PASTORS PROLIFERATING IN GHANA SOCIETY. BESIDES ALL THAT, THE ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER MUST DEAL WITH BADU KOBI ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF THE COUNTRY FOR THE PERSONAL ATTACK ON HIM.
