A Magistrate court in Enchi in the Western North Region has sentenced six men who mercilessly flogged a young man recently for allegedly flouting the chief’s orders to 240 days imprisonment with hard labour.
The convicts, Bullu Adjei, Alfred Ban in Obboye, Kwasi Kah, Stephen Tando, David Amankwah and Nana Adu are also to pay a fine of GHC1,200 each to the court, failure of which they will serve an additional 90 days each.
The court presided over by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng further ruled that the convicts should compensate the victim, Stephen Koomson with GHC1,000 each for the pain caused him.

I was told by resident from the constituency that the Omanhene of the area died and his son who has stayed in abroad for sometime and suppose to no better has brought untold hardship to his people with 'kolo' laws, that's every three weeks starting from friday no one is expected to go to farm, no cooking until after 12.00noon, with a lot others, and anyone who go contrary to this rule is fined ghc300,so the guy they whip was fined but because he didn't get money to pay that is why he was lashed, so it shouldn't be only them the Chief who has been in abroad several years but didn't achieve anything and has come out with this ***barred word*** laws must be dealt with as well, the place is dominantly farming community so if you set these laws for the people how can they survive? Village Champion chief.
This magistrate should have the Special Prosecutor instead of Amidu. The sentence he passed on these six wicked guys is perfect. People just take the law into their own hands and do anything any how. Other magistrate must do the same way. God bless you magistrate.
