The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council has reacted to comments by the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Andrew Barnes in relation to suggestions that corruption was still a problem in Ghana even though a majority of the people were Christians.
At the launch of a strategic plan of the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition in Accra on Wednesday, September 25, Mr Barnes pointed out that it intrigues him that Ghana, as a strong Christian country has corruption as a problem in Ghana.
But reacting to his comments in a radio interview on Starr FM on Friday, the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev. Emmanuel Barrigah said the population of Ghana is not made up of only Christians so the act of corruption could as well be perpetuated by other people of other religious beliefs.
He noted that it was inappropriate for the High Commissioner to say that to ridicule Christians, saying the Commissioner does not have any evidence in connecting the act of corruption in Ghana to Christians.
However, he advised that this should keep Christians on the alert and make them block every loophole they may have in their various places of work.

Not sure what the GPCC is saying. All he said was if Christians, who are in the majority, lived their values, corruption should not be that rampant in this country. I dont think you can fight this!
Instead of taking the advice in good faith and advising their members who are working in civil service and private sector to eschew corrupt tendencies, they are fast to react. Even taking consultation fee for counseling your church members is corruption and a lot of Christian leaders do that on daily basis. Most of these pastors sleep with other's wives, and that is also corruption. Taking thites from poor members to buy luxury cars is corruption. Asking members to contribute for pastor's appreciation day yearly when most of the members are struggling is corruption. So stop the hypocrisy and do the right things. Being reactionary always means you are not prepared to change so how can you advise politicians when they are wrong?
