Over 100 people have died in India over the last few days after heavy rain led to flooding. The Indian states of Uttar Pradesh & Bihar are submerged, forcing people to flock to shelters for food & assistance.
The highest number of deaths, 111, were reported from Uttar Pradesh, while 29 people lost their lives in Bihar since last week. The death toll, so far, is at 148 in the country. This is India's highest ever rainfall recorded in the last 25 years.
Rainfall received so far is 10 per cent more than the normal, which is highest since 1994. In videos shared online, cars can be seen submerged in flood waters. Humans had water up to their waste and they trudged along to get to a drier, safer place.
