Mr. Emmanuel Boam, a philanthropist has made a passionate appeal to the central government through the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs to help establish a formidable institution capable to handle hundreds of prolonged chieftaincy disputes in the Region.
He explained that, the number of disagreements among royal families in the Region has gone a long way to affect the corporate and mirror images of Bono East.
Speaking to the press, he was of the view that the motionless nature of socio-economic development in the Region can be attributed to the continuous rows amongst chiefs in the area.
He was hopeful that with an institutionalised structure to adjudicate chieftaincy crisis, there will always be immediate solutions. He expressed optimism that with such a structure authoritiesstands a great chance of identifying the main causes of most of the disputes.
Mr. Boam further pointed out that stability amongst traditional leaders is eminent because chiefs play a leading role in socio-economic development. Until peace/tranquillity reigns in the chieftaincy institution, it will be very difficult for the Region to realise the expected economic gains that have eluded it for some time now, he revealed.
He later explained that there cannot be harmony without active involvement of the youth in the disputed areas. In view of the, he entreated the youth to play a neutral role in their quest to help find amicable solution to the on-going traditional challenge.
Mr. Boam established that whenever the youth associate themselves with factions in the disputed areas mediators’ quest to find a lasting antidote to the situation is always difficult. It is therefore paramount for the youth to see themselves as peace ambassadors.
On the recent enstoolment of Nana Kwaku Dankwa II as the new chief for Mo Traditional area, he commended the kingmakers for their tremendous efforts for ensuring peace before, during and after the coronation ceremony.
He ceased the opportunity to commend the newly elected national chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah for gracing the occasion as the guest speaker. He added that Mr. Asiedu Nketia call for perpetual end to chieftaincy disputes in Bono East Region is a step in the right direction.
Due to his continuous call for end to chieftaincy disputes and engagement with factional leaders, Mr. Boam has been tagged by most of the youth in the Region, especially Pru East as peace ambassador.
