The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP has selected 400 youth in the Eastern Region to undergo an intensive training course in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Regional Minister who announced the new model said the trainees would be posted to the schools as ICT instructors.
He said the programme was part of measures being put in place by the government to ensure that competent people were put in charge of ICT.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo was speaking at a durbar at Oyoko to mark the 30th anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Kodua Kesse, as the Oyokohene.
He observed that government's promise of a better Ghana for all was on course and gave the assurance that Ghanaians would soon benefit from the capable administration of the National Democratic Congress.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said several infrastructural projects including the expansion of electricity transformers across the region and the road network were meant to prepare the grounds for investments.
He said the Volta River Authority and the Electricity Company of Ghana were providing new pylons to facilitate a 24- hour power supply.
The Deputy Minister of Information, Mr James Agyenim- Boateng said government was committed to improving education and had therefore expressed its intention to expand the National School Feeding Programme, especially to the rural communities.
He said government was also making major interventions in the areas of road construction to improve upon agriculture and all other ventures.
Nana Kodua Kesse appealed to the government to hasten infrastructural development at the Oyoko Methodist Senior High school, which had been selected as a model school.
He said currently the school had only one classroom block, which creates congestion.
Later, a newly constructed palace was jointly inaugurated by Mr Ofosu-Ampofo and Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Member of Parliament for the area.
