The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Kwasi Agyeman, has called on Ghanaians to support efforts to promote the country's tourism, arts, and culture.
He highlighted that boosting tourism not only generates revenue for Ghana but also creates employment opportunities for the youth.
Mr. Agyeman shared these remarks during an interview with Peace FM News at the launch of a 30,000-kilometer overland expedition to Dubai.
Mr. Agyeman stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to develop sustainable tourism infrastructure. He noted that with the right investments in hotels, transportation, and cultural preservation, Ghana can become a leading destination in West Africa for both leisure and business travelers.
The Ghana Tourism Authority, under Mr. Agyeman’s leadership, is committed to using creative approaches such as this overland expedition to engage with both local and international audiences.
By highlighting Ghana’s unique arts, culture, and historical sites, the Authority seeks to boost tourist inflows, which in turn can contribute significantly to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The leader of the Wanderlust Group, Mr. Kwame Peprah, also echoed the importance of promoting tourism in Ghana. He expressed his excitement about the upcoming 75-day journey, showing his enthusiasm for the expedition and its potential to showcase Ghana internationally.
Mr. Kwame Peprah further emphasized that the overland expedition to Dubai presents a unique opportunity to put Ghana on the global map by promoting its rich cultural heritage and diverse tourist attractions. He encouraged participants and the public to take pride in the initiative and to actively engage in similar activities that project the country’s image positively to the world.
The 75-day trip is expected to traverse several countries, giving the participants a chance to experience different cultures while showcasing Ghana’s own tourism potential. Both Mr. Kwasi Agyeman and Mr. Kwame Peprah believe that such ventures can stimulate interest in Ghana as a travel destination and foster cross-cultural exchange, ultimately benefiting the country’s economy and youth employment.
This initiative also aligns with the broader agenda of the Ghana Tourism Authority to promote domestic and international tourism as a key pillar of national development. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs like this expedition, the Authority aims to strengthen the tourism industry and enhance Ghana's global visibility.
