Following calls by the IEA on political parties not to seek any review after the Supreme Court has read out the final verdict, a member of the New Patriotic Party�s legal team, has vehemently opposed the plea.
Lawyer Buaben Asamoah explains it will be highly �irresponsible� not to seek a review should a lawyer read between the lines that a decision by the Supreme Court could affect the nation�s democracy in years to come.
�As a leader, if you have the opportunity to review a decision which could harm our constitution and you don�t do it, then you are not worth your title. In other words, it would be irresponsible not to review the decision if it is a bad decision in law�, he said.
The IEA prior to Lawyer Buaben Asamoah�s comment, challenged political parties to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court and not seek any review. This, it said will facilitate the process of national reconciliation and cohesion.
But speaking on Okay FM, Mr. Buaben Asamoah observed that inasmuch as he sides with the IEA�s concern about our national security, he believes room for a review should be provided to satisfy those who seek it through the right means.
