His Excellency, Vice President John Dramani Mahama, is set to embark on a four day trip to the Northern Region.
Mr. John Mahama, who is performing an acting role as President of the Republic, following the departure of President Mills to the US, where he is attending the on-going 64th Session of the UN General Assembly, will leave Accra tomorrow.
Spokesman for the Vice President, John Jinapor, confirmed this in an interview with peacefmonline.
According to Mr. Jinapor, His Excellency John Mahama, will host a stakeholders conference on developing the Northern Region, which is said to be one of the poorest regions in the country. He will also meet with some paramount chiefs in the north and other opinion leaders.
The visit to the north also comes at a time when an impending bye-election is scheduled to take place in Chereponi, in the Northern Region, next week.
The visit, he says, will afford the acting President of the Republic, the opportunity to interact with electorates in the Chereponi Constituency.
He is expected back in Accra on Sunday.
