The National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, says it is a shame to all democrats and the country’s democracy, looking at how Nana Darkwah’s case is being handled by all parties involved.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist’s court case should be handled well enough to avoid all forms of the atrocities being committed.
Speaking to Peace FM in an interview, he said he initially decided not to involve himself in the issue again looking at the occurrences whenever the court sits on the case.
"The case is meant for legal practitioners and for that matter supporters of NDC and NPP should desist from following Nana Darkwah to the court," he said.
My Boateng-Gyan added that the court should also fast track the case in other to put a stop to all these clashes. He advised supporters of the NDC and NPP to sit back in their homes and watch the outcome of the court case.
Nana Darkwah had said on an Accra based radio station, Top Radio that ex-President Jerry Rawlings had deliberately set his Ridge residence ablaze.
He was picked up and processed for court the same day after which he was granted a GH˘400.00 bail. He has since made two appearances in court, the latest appearance on Monday, March 15, 2010.
All appearances have had supporters of the two parties clashing at the Cocoa Affairs Court and several people getting injured.
The case has been adjourned to the 29th of March 2010.
