The Member of Parliament for Okre in the Eastern Region Dan Botwe says president Atta Mills should be equally blamed for former President Jerry Rawlings’ excesses.
Mr. Botwe noted that President Mills, who was the Vice President under Mr. Rawlings regime, witnessed a lot of human brutalities that happened during that time, but was not heard or seen condemning the acts.
Mr. Dan Botwe made these remarks on Adom FM on Wednesday, in reaction to comments by Chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party, Dr. Obed Asamoah on the NDC Congress.
Mr. Botwe accused Dr. Obed Asamoah and President Atta Mills for showering praises on Mr. Rawlings at the time those crimes were being committed.
He said over 200 people including eminent chiefs and other prominent citizens went missing during Rawlings’ regime while Dr. Obed Asamoah was Attorney General, insisting all point to the fact that they are equally guilty of crimes committed by Mr. Rawlings. "You cannot delink Rawlings from all acts he committed from his cabinet, and if he has to be punished he should be punished along with the NDC" he said.
