President J.E.A. Mills is being put under pressure to relieve Dr. Hannah Bissiw, Deputy Minister of works, Housing and Water Resources of her post. The Forum for Public Accountability (FOPA), a pressure group is mounting the pressure, following corruption allegations it filed at the commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, (CHRAJ) against Dr. Bissiw.
The (FORA) said in a statement at a press conference signed by its spokesperson, Mr. D.M. Ofori-Atta in Accra yesterday. Mr. Ofori Atta said the (FOPA) is a public spirited group which ensures that public officials entrusted with public resources do not misuse the funds.
They condemned the corruption revelations at the recent public hearings of the Public Accounts Committee of parliament.
Mr. Ofori Atta stated that Dr. Hanna Bisiw had publicly admitted that she lobbied corporate institutions and friends to donate the over two hundred and fifty thousand Ghana cedis GH¢250,000, which she used for massive infrastructural charities in her hometown and constituency, in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Mr. Ofori-Atta and his team promised that in the coming week more young Ministers who are looting the state would be exposed for the whole nation to know them. They have called on President Mills to relieve corrupt ministers of their post whilst investigations are conducted to prove their guilt or other-wise.
The FOPA stressed that it would do everything possible to make sure corrupt public officers are exposed and punished.
