A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has slammed the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, for allegedly opening up to a US Embassy official that the NPP flagbearer smokes marijuana so much so that there used to be a cloud of (marijuana) smoke around him each morning.
The Insight newspaper Editor is reported to have told Gary Pergl, Officer-In-Charge of the Political Desk at the US Embassy that: Nana Akufo-Addo used to smoke a lot of marijuana... and I'm telling you, a lot. Even in the morning, there used to be a cloud around him and you could see that he was high.
Though he has stressed that it is not his principle to go telling third parties of confidential information he had of persons he knew intimately, Mr Pratt has consistently maintained that he does not remember exactly what he may have said or not to an official of the US Embassy in his own office.
However, contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFMs Kokrokoo programme, John Boadu stated that it will enhance Mr. Pratts credibility if he boldly deny or confirm the comments attributed to him in the Wikileaks cable instead of acting as if he has selective amnesia.
I wonder if Bob Marley or Fela Kuti who were well known marijuana smokers, would even attract a heavy cloud of (marijuana) smoke around them (regarding Kwesis claims about Nana Addo)? he quizzed.
The one-time National Youth Organiser of the NPP posited that should the seasoned journalist fail to clear the air on this particular issue, quite a number of people will refrain from having private conversations with him since they might not know what he will say behind them to others.
You cant claim to be someones friend and then say negative things about that person in private, and then when questioned about it you say you dont publicly grass up on peoplethen I prefer you be my enemy than a friend, in obvious reference to Pratts long standing association with the NPP flagbearer.
