The central government, through its “Better Ghana Agenda”, has initiated the infrastructural base of the Akyemansa District, which include good road network and the development of a water and sanitation plan.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Ofoase in the Eastern Region, Mr Tom Budu; District Chief Executive, said serious construction work has begun on the Edubiase-Paa Wudu road to facilitate the smooth transportation of people, as well as food crops to the marketing centres.
He said NAGIZA Road Construction Limited, which is executing the project is mobilising resources to commence business on the Adjobue and Abenase-Akokoase stretch.
Mr Budu said under the Urban Water Supply Scheme, three boreholes had been sunk at Ofoase Zongo, Ofoase market area and an adjoining town, Ofoase Kuma, which would be mechanised and distributed to the people.
He said additional boreholes would be sunk at Bontodiase and Asuboa North while the construction of a head-tank and the distribution network to the beneficiary communities would be completed in a year. “All these efforts of the government is meant to open up the hinterlands, where the bulk of foods and cash crops are produced to the rest of the country,” Mr Budu said.
He said it would also serve as employment avenue for the youth.
