The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has admitted that he is eyeing the Tema West Constituency parliamentary seat.

The Minister, who has already filed his nomination forms to contest for the partys parliamentary primary, said he has harbored the dream of becoming the Member of Parliament for Tema West for a very long time and believes he is set for the task.

According to the former Eastern Regional Minister, he still has some more energy as a politician to serve his people and country, adding that it is always good to help develop whichever community one finds himself in and having settled at Tema West with his family, he intends taking up the responsibility of serving his community and country.

I have made my mindI will be contesting as the NDC candidate for Tema West. This is something I have been dreaming about for so many years. I think I still have some energy in me to continue serve my country besides I was even going to contest in the last election but I withdrew at the last minute due to some personal reasons but this time, I have even filed my nomination forms already. I settle at Tema West with my family and I think you must be able to help your community where you find yourself besides, there have been calls (from the grassroots and NDC supporters in the constituency) for him to contest as the MP, he said.

Bro Sammy Foto as he is affectionately called, will be up against the NPPs Irene Naa Toshie Addo (sitting MP for the area), should he win the NDCs primary and eventually become the partys candidate for Tema West.

The affable politician posits that he does not fear electoral defeat saying as a politician, I dont fear election, I have won elections and lost elections but losing doesnt mean I have to give up; I keep on going and trying.
