Paramount chiefs in the Nabdan Traditional Area in the Upper East Region have expressed appreciation to President John Evans Atta Mills for creating a new district in the area under the Government’s “Better Ghana” agenda.

The chiefs are Naaba Bewong Asigri of the Sakote Traditional Area and Naaba Kosom Asaga Yelzuya, Paramount Chief of Nangodi. Some other important personalities who added their voices to the appreciation were Colonel David Zanlerigu (retired), Dr. Nyaaba Yembilla, Mr. Nicholas Nayembil, Mr. Martin Dittoh, Mr. Thomas Moore, Professor Saah Dittoh and Pastor Isaac Yine.

Addressing the people later at a grand durbar held at Nangodi to climax their joy for the creation of the new district, Mr. Nayembil, a retired teacher and historian, congratulated President Mills for giving the people a "gift" that would have lasting impression on them.

The two paramount chiefs called on the people to be united to develop the district and cautioned them against playing politics with the young district.

Mr Moses Asaga, Member of Parliament for Nabdan Constituency and Madam Vivian Anafo, the Talensi-Nabdan District Chief Executive, pledged to ensure that the new district got its fair share of the national cake.
