Communications Director for the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea, has justified his flagbearers win at all cost statement saying majority of Ghanaians have become despondent with the Mills administration and are looking for a change; a change, which according to him, the NPP can only deliver.
The NPP flagbearer, at a recent meeting with students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the NPP, is reported to have said that the NPP is the only party in the country that can make the much desired transformation a reality and urged the students to ensure that he is elected president in 2012 at all cost.
The world was never built by people of little vision and little imagination, the world belongs to those who can think big, act big and do big things and for that to happen the only political force in our country that can bring about this transformation and change is the New Patriotic PartyThere is no other party that can do it. At all cost we should win the election of 2012, he declared.
Speaking in an interview on the Big Bite Show on Xfm 95.1, an Accra-based commercial radio station, Nana Akomea lamented that almost a year since President Mills declared his infamous Action Year speech, nothing worthwhile has been achieved by his administration, and his promise has now simply become a mantra.
He also took a swipe at NDC youth activist, Mohammed Ras Mubarak over his assertion that the NPPs flag bearer will be a wrong leader for Ghana.
Ras Mubarak, in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com stated that Nana Addo is all froth and certainly has little understanding of what Ghanaians are looking for. Citing his inability to interact with victims of the recent flood that hit some parts of Accra like President John Mills did, Ras Mubarak intimated that Nana Addo is dangerously clueless to the real issues affecting Ghanaian families.
At a time when ten Ghanaians have been reported dead from the recent floods, Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is talking about winning the next election at all costHe has not bothered to go visit the victims, let alone hug the babies, shake hands, make donations and give the nation an indication of what he would do about flood risk management all Akufo-Addo can do is to give a stale lecture about visions? Clearly the opposition leader is out of touch and far removed from the rest of the country, Ras stated in his statement.
However, the NPP Director of Communications spurned Ras assertions saying should not be taken serious because of his double standards.
This is the same man who six months ago was saying worse things about President Mills than Nana Addo or anybody else had said.
According to him, Nana Addo at the time of the floods was abroad and could not have commiserated with the victims.
If this man is happy with President Mills governance when six months ago he was shouting everywhere about how President Mills government is the worst in this country; well, maybe hes had a change of mind, that is fine. But I can tell you that a lot of people are so disgruntled and in such a hopeless stateThe president himself said that 2011 will be the action year; giving us a list of the things that we are going to see in the action year. As we speak today, almost one year into the action year, have you seen even one of this projects realized? So people are despondent; we dont have the transformational leadership that we need to change this society to live up to the expectation of the peopleWe are not different from the Koreans and the Malaysians, etc. What we have lacked is the transformational leadership. When you keep doing things the same way, you are not going to get change. And that is what we are doing. We need leadership that will transform the nation, Nana Akomea said.
