Vice President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirants using his name and office to prosecute their campaigns to desist from that forthwith.
This was contained in a statement signed by Spokesperson of the Vice President, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, copied to GNA in Accra on Thursday. It said the Vice President was unhappy with reports that some aspirants at meetings with delegates claimed that they were either asked by him (Vice President) to contest, or they were his preferred candidate in the constituency while others claimed that he was the financier of their campaign.
The statement said the Vice President was not supporting any candidate in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the NDC and urged delegates to ignore such claims. He wished all aspirants well and urged them to carry out their campaigns in a civil and decorous manner in the supreme interest of party unity.
