A political analyst and lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Mr. Kwesi Amakye believes that the NDC founder, Jerry John Rawlings presence or otherwise at the partys rally tomorrow will serve as a defining moment for the party.
He told Citi News Mr. Rawlings absence at the rally will mean that the partys leaders have failed to unite all NDC members ahead of the December elections.
This according to Kwesi Amakye could affect the NDCs electoral fortunes in December.
The office of Mr. Rawlings yesterday discounted the partys claim that he has been officially been invited to the rally and subsequently warned the executives against using his name to pull crowd for their events.
The partys leadership have given indications that the Mr. Rawlings has been officially invited.
There cant be any good reason for him not attending given the fact that the rally is going to be the first one of this nature; he should be there, Amakye said.
But if he doesnt the party will try to do damage control trying to the supporters to come to terms with it but it will not work. It will be a failure on the partys leadership to patch things with the former family of the party. It will have a toll on the country and the elections.
He said a unity of the party was very essential to Saturdays rally.
Presently, is still unclear whether Mr. Rawlings will honour the invitation to the rally at Jamestown Manche Agbona in Accra.
