The President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, has stated that God will not allow the country to plunge into violence and chaos in this year�s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
According to the President, Ghanaians must be thankful to God for bringing the country this far.
He also challenged Ghanaians to support the mission of ensuring peace and stability during and after the elections.
President Mills made the comments when he joined thousands of Christians at the Independence square for the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service on Sunday to thank God on behalf of the entire country.
The service attracted members from the clergy and politicians from the various political divide.
President Mills in his speech re-emphasized his government�s commitment to ensure a peaceful Ghana before and after the December polls.
�We all want a peaceful Ghana, before during and after the elections. As human beings what we can do is to exercise the power that God has given us�.
�But it is only God who can add his seal of approval to our efforts, let us therefore continue to pray to the almighty God who has showered so many blessings on us and continues to do. My brothers and sisters let us continue to pray because without prayers we are nothing� President Mills said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah has called on Ghanaians to be agents peace like Abigail in the Bible.
Apostle Onyinah said it is important the nation avoids a repeat of past mistakes. He said peace and stability is key to the growth and development of Ghana.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service to crown the week long national fasting and prayers event, Apostle Dr. Onyinah who is also a member of the National Peace Council said it is not too late for Ghanaians to seek God�s grace and guidance, adding there is the need to forgive each other.
Apostle Dr. Onyinah who spoke on the topic: �Be An Agent of God�, explained that those who will sin will not be forgiven by God.
