A group called the Progressive NPP Youth group in Tamale Friday organized special prayers to thank Allah for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s re-nomination to partner Nana Akuffo Addo in the December elections.
The NPP 2008 Vice Presidential Candidate was endorsed by popular acclamation at the party’s Council of Elders meeting yesterday.
The decision was embraced by majority of NPP members including the Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu who described the ticket as the best.
President of the Progressive NPP Youth in Tamale, Iddi Adakwah told Citi News Dr. Bawumia and the NPP had been committed into the hands of Allah.
“When we received the news on Dr. Bawumia’s endorsement we mobilized some Mallams today to recite the Qur’an and pray for such happiness that we have had; it is not just happiness just for receiving the news but happiness in the sense that our plea has been accepted and this is just the beginning of new things to come” He explained, “As we have just recited the Qur’an we are preparing to move into the various areas especially in the Mamprugu areas.”
Meanwhile, the Mamprugu Youth Network has commended the NPP Council of Elders for reposing confidence in Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as Nana Addo’s running mate for the December elections.
The Network’s President, Simon Ali at a news conference on Friday gave the assurance that the NPP will win all the constituencies in Mamprugu land.
“We thank the NPP Council of Elders and Nana Akuffo Addo, the NPP flag bearer for nominating Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a prominent loyal son of the Mamprugu land; we are assuring the NPP that it will win all the Mamprugu Parliamentary seats in December.
