A few days after lambasting the Mills administration at this years Ferdinand Ayim Memorial Lectures, the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2012 polls, has once again hit hard at government for its management of the countrys economy.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said though the current administration has borrowed huge sums of money in three and half years than any government in the history of the nation, there was nothing to show for the colossal debt incurred.

Addressing a large crowd of NPP supporters at Kumasi Polytechnic on Friday during a youth forum organized by the youth wing of the party, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana stated that the nations economy was presently in a bad shape.

He cited the rising cost of living, joblessness and the continuous depreciation of the cedi against the major trading currencies in the world and other indicators, which determine the quality of living of the people.

The economic whizkid questioned the governments much touted assertion that inflation recorded single digit when indeed the price of goods continue to skyrocket and the cost of living keeps increasing.

Dr Bawumia indicated that the government was engaged in propaganda about issues on the economy instead of employing measures to improve the economy.

He advised the government to stay away from propaganda and get to work to improve the economy so that the lives of the people could be improved to achieve the Better Ghana agenda it promised Ghanaians.

Noting that the government had clearly demonstrated its inability to handle the economy in a better way, former deputy governor of BoG entreated the electorate to vote for the NPP to put the economy back on a sound footing.

Dr Bawumia noted that the NPP would prudently manage the countrys economy so that the cost of living would be lowered to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

He said if the NPP assume the reins of government on January 7, 2013, they would create an economy of jobilisation instead of the creation of an economy of Woyomisation by the President Mills-led administration.

The economic guru promised that the next NPP government, under the headship of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would put the necessary measures to make the country the manufacturing hub of West African.

It was the first trip by Dr. Bawumia to the region since his endorsement as the running mate to Nana Addo, flagbearer of the NPP.

He thanked the enthusiastic crowd that thronged the sports yard of K-Poly to take part in the youth forum.

Elated supporters of the party from all corners of the region, who were clad in NPP paraphernalia, thronged the sports yard of the polytechnic to listen to Nana Addo, Dr Bawumia and other leading members of the party amidst singing and dancing.
