The utterances of Former President Jerry John Rawlings will not prevent President Mills from being re-elected in the December polls.
This is because President Mills has performed excellently and achieved more in his three and half year’s governance to win votes of the Ghanaian electorate who hold the mandate to determine their next leader.
The National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency, Mr. Fritz Baffour made the declaration when he addressed a well-attended rally at Karikari Brobbey Park in the Ablekuma South constituency in Accra to celebrate the party’s 20th anniversary.
Mr Baffour who is the Minister of Information described the NDC’s performance in the last 20years as incomparable.
Some of the party bigwigs who graced the rally included the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr Ade Coker, The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Dr Okoe Vanderpuije, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Ms Sherry Ayittey and the Parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije.
The rally also attracted jubilant supporters and sympathisers of the party, most of whom were wearing party T-shirts with the picture of President Mills and those of the Parliamentary candidates embossed on them.
Although former President J. J. Rawlings, President Mills and his Vice Mr John Mahama were not present at the function, security at the place was tight.
“The NDC government, particularly the current administration, will not be moved by anything aside our determination and constant preparation towards Election 2012. Our election campaign team is ready, so is our desire to ensure the peace and safety of the Ghanaian people, especially, the children and the women were protected”, Mr Baffour said.
He told the elated crowd that the party was gearing up for election 2012 and that the challenges faced by the NDC administration was only a sign of victory for the party.
He said the achievement s chalked up by the Mills’ administration was for Ghanaians to decide which party had the tools and the mechanism to lead the country towards development, stressing, “ We are now close to achieving the Millennium Development Goals for 2015”
Mr Baffour said he abhorred the politics of vituperations and personality attacks and noted that any public figure who misbehaved must be exposed and brought to face the laws of the land.
He also called on party supporters and sympathisers not to engage in vices that had the tendency to destroy the peace the country was enjoying and urged all to rally behind the President and his ministers.
