THE NEW Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its outrage and disgust over a statement made by Deputy Minister of Information Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to the effect that the party’s MP for Kwabre West, Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah’s death was as a result of speculations that President Mills was dead.

Ablakwa said the death of Mr Owusu-Ansah was a punishment to the NPP for allegedly peddling the falsehood that President Mills was dead.

Expressing the party’s anger about what it described as an unfortunate statement by the NDC minister, the NPP Chairman for Kwabre West constituency, where the late MP hailed from, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said he was surprised about Ablakwa’s remark.

He noted that as far as he was concerned, no NPP official or supporter had openly wished President Mills dead, so he could not understand why the minister wanted to make a mockery of the death of the late MP.

Odeneho Appiah said the NPP, especially in the Kwabre West Constituency, would not allow the foul statement by Okudzeto Ablakwa to die a natural death, warning that “he will hear from us very soon.”

He noted that the party would investigate the matter thoroughly and if it was established that indeed Okedzeto Ablakwa made those ill remarks about the late MP, then the party would take him on.

The NPP Chairman did not state the exact action the party would take against the Deputy Information Minister, but repeated, “We will take him on”.

Odeneho Appiah said Okudzeto was fond of making unpalatable remarks about his political opponents, most of whom were far older and experienced than him.

He noted in a chat on Kessben FM that the young minister was now treading on dangerous grounds after making foul comments about the late MP who was once the Ashanti Regional Minister.

Odeneho said the NPP was in pain following the untimely demise of Hon. Owusu Ansah, warning that if Okudzeto wanted to make a mockery of the MP’s death, the party would not sit unconcerned.
