On Joy FM’s Newsfile programme last Saturday, 21st July, 2012 out of the blue, Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, the young professional propagandist for the NDC, called Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom a "populist".

We assume that this young man understands the meaning of populism. As young men and women ourselves, we know the value of being young. We can be smart, intelligent, enthusiasm and have a lot of vim. But we also know that without discipline, good direction and respect for our elders, our future will be a disaster.

We, the youth of Progressive People’s Party - PPP, have had cause in the recent past to caution the youthful disrespectful brigade in the NDC to know who they deal with. We have told them to learn to wash their hands before they attempt to eat from the same bowl with their elders. We have told them before to know that "...monkeys play by sizes." They should measure their strength and wisdom before they speak publicly. A responsibility of all young men and women is not only to learn, read and study, but to know what words to throw about and for what purpose. Ofosu-Kwakye does not seem to have learnt his lessons well. He loves the sound of his voice. If he is being pushed by some NDC elders to misbehave, then we feel sorry for him. The saying is "Eye papa a, eye am wo ho. Eye boni so a eye am wo ho.". Soon, Ofosu-Kwakye will find himself naked, unprotected and vulnerable. Power that comes from being in government in a democracy is not forever. It will end.

We wish to remind Ofosu-Kwakye and his fellow youthful propagandists that in Ghana, Africa and the world over, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is a highly respected professional consultant, successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. His broad human heart has led him not just to seek profits but expand business and employment opportunities to young men and women in all the ten regions of the country. Even in places like Yendi, Bawku where those only seeking profit have pulled out of, Dr. Nduom has put businesses there much to the appreciation of the local people. when he was given the opportunity to serve in government for 6 and a half years (not 8 years as imagined by the young propagandist), Dr. Nduom did very well, a fact appreciated by many, many Ghanaians. There are no judgment debts in Dr. Nduom's closet. In fact we are thankful that Dr. Nduom, President Mills and Mr. Akufo-Addo the top three presidential candidates this year have all served in someone else's government before. That is why we ask Ghanaians to compare what all three people did for Ghanaians when given the opportunity to serve the nation. We know that Dr. Nduom comes out miles ahead and that may be why people like Ofosu-Kwakye like only engage in mindless propaganda to cover up for the shortcomings of the candidate they support.

If what Ofosu-Kwakye calls populism is the fact that there are many communities in Ghana like Wulensi who are part of "forgotten Ghana", then we tell Dr. Nduom more of those! If in almost four years, Wulensi was on the mind of the Mills NDC Administration, how come they have waited until the unfortunate death of the MP with a few days to a by-election to go and garage the streets, start putting streetlights in place, placing electric poles around etc.? If the NDC propagandist is unhappy that Dr. Nduom is calling attention to the unprecedented 54 percent of BECE candidates who failed in 2011, then we ask Dr. Nduom to educate us some more! If as a businessman Dr. Nduom projects that inflation will go up and the Cedi will lose more value before the end of the year and so the Mills Administration must manage the economy more carefully, what is wrong with that?

We are watching what we write and say carefully. The PPP does not endorse insults and mindless talk. We ask President Mills to call his young men and women to order!
