President John Mahama has promised to improve the living conditions of the fishermen and fishmongers in Chorkor, a fishing community here in Accra.
The President made this promise in Chorkor where he is embarking on the last leg of his �Thank you tour� to thank the people in the area and the Greater Accra Region for their contribution during the funeral and burial ceremony of the late President John Mills.
According to him, the fishermen will receive new outboard motors next week.
He said: ��Chorkor is one of the strongholds of artisanal fishing in Ghana and so its fair share of support for artisanal fishing, you will get. Already we are executing an outboard motor programme and Chorkor�s allocation of the out board motors is ready for distribution and sonext week, they will arrive.�
President Mahama also promised to provide the women in the area with fish mongering equipments to help in the easy execution of their trade.
