The flagbearer of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP) in last year’s presidential election, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster, has observed that the party has a culture of hanging its flagbearers out to dry after every election.
Dr. Sakara has come under intense criticism from some members of the party after he criticized the leadership style of the party as not culturally attuned to the political landscape to enable it function well.
A group calling itself CPP Women have insisted Dr Sakara should apologize for giving the party its worst election result in its history; a request he has declined.
Speaking to XYZ News Dr. Sakara said the culture of stifling the efforts of its flagbearers after every election must stop.
"I had hoped that in this election, since my campaign was not a negative campaign to win the flagbearership,.. there will be a collective support behind the flagbearer," he said.
According to Dr. Sakara, he supported everyone in the process leading to the election so he expected that there will be a collective approach going into the December 7 election.
