The Upper East Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have commended the President for appointing Dr Raymond Atuguba as his Executive Secretary and nominating Mr Mahama Ayariga to the Information Ministry.
A press release signed by the Regional Secretary, Mr Atanga Donatus Akamugri and copied to the GNA, said “the appointment of the widely acclaimed legal luminary came as no surprise to us taking into account his laudable delivery in his capacity as the Executive Secretary of the Constitution Review Commission and many other high-profile roles nationally and internationally. The choice as the President’s official scribe portends a brighter hope for all young people in Ghana”.
The release said there was no doubt that both Dr Atuguba and Mr Ayariga would live up to their expectations considering the fact that they are both objective, affable, experienced, knowledgeable and broad-minded.
It said the Upper East Region, with 66.4 percent vote for the NDC in the December 2012 polls, was only second to the Volta Region in ensuring a first round victory for President Mahama and the appointment of the two from the region formed part of the President’s recognition of the region’s performance at the polls.
The release restated the pledge by the executives of their unflinching support for the Party adding that they would play their roles efficiently to help President Mahama run his administration.
It appealed to those challenging the electoral verdict to emulate the same civility and gentility that former Presidential Candidate and former President John Agyekum Kufuor had exhibited over the years so as to help maintain the current peace of the country.
