The Office of the President has expressed concern about the manner in which vehicles belonging to various security agencies drive through congested traffic situations, especially in Accra.
A statement signed by Hon. Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations cautioned drivers of vehicles belonging to security agencies including private security companies to follow normal traffic regulations “except and unless during cases of emergency”.
It indicated that the caution also applies to private vehicle owners that drive through traffic with sirens and blur their horns.
“The police administration has accordingly been directed to arrest and apply strict sanctions against offending drivers of these vehicles and their occupants.”
The statement also cautioned security dispatch riders against the practice of escorting unauthorized persons through traffic and asked service chiefs to bring these directives to the attention of their personnel and ensure compliance.
