The former Youth Organizer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Anthony Karbo has described as inappropriate, the description of the party’s 2012 Flagbearer as a “cheap opposition leader”.
Party member and Executive Director of Think Tank Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko used the adjective on radio on Tuesday in his quest to portray Nana Akufo Addo as a peace loving person.
He said the defeated presidential candidate who is challenging the validity of the 2012 election in Court could have chosen the expensive option of resorting to the streets to demand justice.
But Anthony Karbo speaking on Breakfast XYZ said though he agrees with the intentions of Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, the language used could have been better. “My only disagreement with Gabby was the phrase cheap opposition; I don’t think it was good communication to describe a very respected person like that,” Anthony Karbo.
He however added that “but I understood the intention behind the use of the phrase but the fact that we live in a fast growing technological era where people can just think that it is a look-down phrase. Who is an expensive opposition leader?
