The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frempong has taunted Assembly members of Birim South District for voting against nominated District Chief Executive (DCE), Baffour Mensah Takyi.
In her address to the assembly, she criticized the assembly members for not voting for the DCE.
We have better development programmes for the district so I urge you not to associate your name with an attempt that will prevent such progress.
She said if anyone here thought that voting against Baffour Takyi will enable the President to change him then he or she has to think twice because if he is voted against 100 times the President will nominate him 100 times.
The nominated DCE polled 21 votes out of the 39 votes from assembly members, representing 53.84 per cent, which fell short of the required two-thirds majority.
Nominated DCEs at Abetifi and Atiwa also failed to get the nod of the assembly members.
Meanwhile, Tawiah Boateng, the Eastern Regional Organizing Secretary of the NDC, in an interview with a local radio interview, attributed the defeats of the Presidents nominees in the Eastern region to political machinations in the NDC.
