The Ministry of Information has handed over the tape which allegedly contains the voice of Mr Sammy Awuku attacking the integrity of the Supreme Court judges to the Police for investigations.
According to the Public Relations Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, a copy of the tape has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by government.
DSP Arthur who made this known whilst speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM Tuesday afternoon said the police has begun investigations into the tape, adding that when necessary, Mr Awuku would be invited to assist in investigations.
He also noted that any other person who could assist in the investigations would be invited.
Mr Awuku, who is a Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is alleged to have indicated during a meeting with NPP communicators in the United Kingdom that most of the judges on the Supreme Court case were favourable to the NPP.
Although Mr Awuku has denied making such statements and claimed the tape was a fabrication, the Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Felix Ofosu Kwakye, said at a press briefing Monday that government would obtain a copy of the tape and study its content.
He added that if the government found out that the content of the tape threatened the security of the judges, it would hand over the tape to the security agencies to conduct investigations into it.
