Government would at all times commit itself to transparency in conformity with the principle of good governance, Mr Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, a Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, said on Monday.

He said the government would also avail itself for reviews and criticisms but such criticisms should be constructive to help the growth and development of the country. Mr Kwakye-Ofosu announced this during the daily media briefing at the Flagstaff House at Kanda.

There has been hue and cry over perceived corruption, attracting headlines in major media networks in the country, thus casting doubts as to whether government was in firm grip of various organizations.

While government over the months had given indications of curbing the situation, opponents see such steps as too slow.

He called on organized labour and other interest groups to exercise restraint while negotiations were being carried out by their leaderships and government.

Mr Kwakye-Ofosu condemned the use of intemperate language, a situation he described as "Belligerent rhetoric," as that could further muddy the waters than bringing cordiality. On the Policy Fair, Mr Kwakye-Ofosu said it was successful considering the fact that 180 Ministries, Departments and Agencies participated.

He said the feedback had been encouraging and the government would study it carefully to improve on subsequent fairs.
