A member of President John Dramani Mahama's three "Wisemen" at Presidency, Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin has issued a stern warning to the President to be wary of his actions.
According to him, the failure of the President and government to revitalize the economy will immensely have repercussions for the country and his administration.
Speaking on Okay FM, Hon. Bagbin, who expressed disquiet over President Mahama's inability to heed his advice on the state of the economy, could not help but to point out some happenings on the blind side of the President.
He discounted the perception that he (President Mahama) is the 'youngest' Head of State ever in the annals of Ghana's history, one of the campaign messages the NDC rode on to victory in the 2012 elections.
He alluded to leaders like Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and former President Jerry John Rawlings, who he said, were all young before they gained access to the Presidential seat.
it is not true that hes the youngest. No, even Nkrumah was younger. And President Jerry John Rawlings, well know, became Head of State around 32/33 years. But now the perception is that he represents the youth; his failure in government will affect the youth seriously. People must know that.
"He is seen as one of the new generation of leaders and people are banking serious hopes on the fact that new generation leaders will make a difference. His failure will have a telling effect on the perception of governance in this country if not the whole world," Alban Bagbin said.
He wondered how someone who was once a journalist and a Communications Minister could have no regard for information flow. To him, the President does not only represent these two categories but also, as a northerner, he may crush the hopes of people of that ethnic descent.
His failure will seriously affect northerners. People must take this seriously, he asserted.
