Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Awuku says he is poised for the position of a National Youth Organizer of the NPP because of his desire to deliver adding that he sees “victory in 2016.”
“I think in politics, one thing you should have is your ability to inspire people for them to believe in what you are bringing. If they believe in what you are saying, if they believe in the things you have done before, your ability to mobilize them to move beyond their comfort zone, to achieve even the things they have not thought of. And that is the spirit I bring to bear,” he said.
Although leaders of the party have played their role by giving off their best, “a time has come that you need somebody too with a composed strategy and also with an understanding of the issues of the day,” he explained.
In an interview on Eyewitness News Sammy Awuku who described himself as an “agitator general” said he doubles as a motivator as well.
"As an agitator general he said I agitate for issues bothering the youth and make sure that those concerns are addressed."
Sammy Awuku also added that “I think in 2016 we have choices, the choice to choose hope over fear. The hope that collectively, our strength will lie in our numbers and our ability to lead the youth of our party, without power of conviction. Or we choose fear over hope. The fear that we tried it a couple of times it did not work so it is not going to work.
But I believe in motivating the youth. I believe in also ensuring that on the ground, you don’t become an armchair youth organizer. You become a youth organizer on the field.”
He said that his quest for the position is as a result of his desire to deliver, and a desire to bring to the fore issues that can help “the party mobilize and energize the base of the youth and also motivate them to win election 2016.”
In his opinion the youth of Ghana want “a system, a government or a country where at least out of their toil, out of their sweat and out of their hard work and determination, they can have a decent living, a decent accommodation, see their Ghanaian dream being actualized and live in the Ghanaian dream” which the NPP is ready to offer the youth.
