Don't Allow NPP’s Cacophony Of Noises Sway You - Felix Kwakye Tells Ghanaians

Deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as “opportunistic intervention” the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) call on the Chief Justice to investigate claims by dismissed deputy Communications Minister that government influenced the 2012 presidential election petition.

The embattled former deputy minister, in a secret recording, was allegedly heard saying a minister in the Mahama-led administration played a key role in the Supreme Court decision, that validated the presidency of John Mahama.

The NPP, which was confident in winning the court case, insisted that the latest exposé of Victoria Hammah, gives more credence to its suspicion.

The opposition party in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as "Sir John" is asking the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood to as a matter of urgency, investigate the allegation to exonerate the judiciary from the issue.

However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday said the NPP was just engaging in “old fashioned politics”.

According to him, in its bid to satisfy its insatiable quest for power, the opposition party is clutching to anything that could make it relevant to the Ghanaian populace.

Kwakye Ofosu noted that throughout the court hearing, it was evident that the NPP had no substantial evidence to back its claims.

“The case they took to the Supreme Court was dead on arrival because it lacked merit that is why it was dismissed”, he stated.

The deputy Information Minister could not fathom why members of the NPP are making a lot of noise about the issue, when in fact they cowardly could not standby by their own leaked tapes.

He cited a similar tape of former NPP National Youth Organizer, Anthony Karbo and Samuel Awuku, another member of the opposition party, to buttress his point.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu urged Ghanaians not to allow the NPP’s cacophony of noises to sway them.
