Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah says former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and two-time Vice Presidential Candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has the same personality traits of beleaguered former Deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah; they love to blow their own trumpet.
He described Dr Bawumia’s maiden Aliu Mahama Memorial Lecture, at which he (Bawumia) criticised the Mahama administration’s handling of the economy, as unfortunate, saying he should have rather used the opportunity to advise the youth on indiscipline.
Delivering the inaugural Aliu Mahama Memorial Lecture to launch the “Aliu Mahama Foundation” in honour of the late Vice President, Dr Bawumia described the NDC’s Socialist Democratic ideals as “Akonfem Socialism”- taking from the majority poor and giving to the minority rich through corrupt means – which has made the ordinary Ghanaian worse off.
“Akonfem socialism is this new brand of socialism where the government officials engage in “chopping” the meat to the bone. Rather than focusing on serving the people, our Akonfem socialists focus on coming up with schemes to steal money from the people.
“…This is why we have the creation of schemes such as GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, WAYOME, WATERVILLE, ISOTOFON, AAL, where the state has been defrauded of billions of Ghana cedis which could otherwise have been used for productive development expenditure. This is only what we know about. This is not what Ghanaians expect from the party of “Probity and Accountability,” he said
Discussing the now famous “NDC’s “akomfem” Socialism” on OKAY FM’s political show “Ghana Decides”, Solomon Nkansah labeled the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank as a shallow minded economist.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia always thinks he knows it all, he is just praising himself like Victoria Hammah. He doesn’t know anything,” he opined.
